HIPHI seeks to hire and deploy trained CHWs to work with grantees* under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) kūpuna food security project, which seeks to dually support kūpuna food security and local agriculture by distributing food/meals in culturally appropriate ways. CHWs will work directly with CDBG grantees to:
- Improve awareness of, access to, and enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and/or other sustainable food security programs; and
- Link food distribution efforts with wraparound health and social services to ensure kūpuna have the resources needed to live healthy, supported lifestyles
